Job Summary

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Surgical Coordinator will be responsible for managing the scheduling, preparation, and coordination of all procedures. This role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and knowledge of surgical operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of patient care.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling and Coordination:
    • Coordinate and schedule procedures
    • Ensure that all pre-operative and post-visit instructions are communicated to patients.
    • Confirm that all necessary documentation, consents, and insurance details are in order before surgery.
  • Patient Care & Communication:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing procedures, answering any questions regarding the procedure.
    • Ensure patients are informed of pre-visit requirements, fasting instructions, and any necessary medical clearance.
    • Assist patients with pre-operative testing, ensuring all required tests are completed before surgery.
  • Collaboration with Medical Staff:
    • Work closely with medical professionals to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
    • Ensure that the procedure/exam room is adequately prepped for provider prior to procedure
  • Insurance and Authorization:
    • Verify patient insurance and authorization for visit and procedures.
    • Assist in the submission of pre-authorization paperwork for procedures as required by insurance companies.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including procedural schedules, patient charts, and consent forms.
    • Ensure all patient information is kept confidential according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Post-Operative Care:
    • Provide patients with post-visit care instructions, including follow-up appointments.
    • Ensure patients are scheduled for follow-up visits as needed.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Ensure that all necessary supplies and equipment are available and ready for use before each procedure.
    • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in a surgical coordinator or medical office administrative role.
    • Experience in scheduling, patient coordination, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
    • Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of surgical procedures.
    • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and healthcare software.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Certifications:
    • CPR and First Aid certification

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with potential for flexible hours
  • Work will be conducted in a healthcare facility, primarily in an office environment, with occasional visits to service centers

Rate: $18-$22
