Job Summary

Position title: Medical Director of Ophthalmology

 

Summary: Essen Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical Director of Ophthalmology. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and guiding the clinical and administrative operations of the Ophthalmology Department. This position combines clinical expertise with strategic management to ensure the delivery of high-quality eye care services. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to enhance patient care, drive innovation, and promote the growth of the ophthalmology department.

Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership:
  - Provide clinical oversight and direction to the ophthalmology team, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and support staff.
  - Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based eye care services.
  - Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines to standardize care and improve patient outcomes.
  - Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology and incorporate new treatments and technologies into practice.

Administrative Management:
  - Oversee the daily operations of the ophthalmology department, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
  - Manage departmental budgets, financial planning, and resource utilization to ensure cost-effective operations.
  - Develop and implement strategic plans to grow and enhance the department’s services.
  - Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.

Quality Improvement:
  - Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, care quality, and patient satisfaction.
  - Monitor and analyze clinical performance metrics, patient outcomes, and satisfaction scores.
  - Implement corrective actions and process improvements based on data analysis and feedback.

Staff Development and Education:
  - Recruit, hire, and retain qualified ophthalmology staff.
  - Provide mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities for clinical and administrative staff.
  - Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages teamwork and continuous learning.

Patient Care and Advocacy:
  - Ensure a patient-centered approach to care, promoting patient education and engagement.
  - Address patient concerns and complaints promptly and effectively.
  - Advocate for patient needs and the provision of comprehensive eye care services.

Collaboration and Outreach:
  - Build and maintain relationships with other healthcare providers, hospitals, and community organizations.
  - Represent the ophthalmology department in meetings, conferences, and professional associations.
  - Promote community outreach programs to raise awareness about eye health and preventive care.

Qualifications

- Medical Degree:** MD or DO with a specialization in ophthalmology.
- Licensure:** Valid medical license to practice ophthalmology.
- Experience:** At least 5-10 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology, with a strong background in both medical and surgical eye care.
- Leadership Skills:** Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting, with strong organizational and management abilities.
- Communication Skills:** Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving:** Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to Quality:** Dedication to maintaining high standards of patient care and continuous improvement.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

-Advanced Training:** Fellowship training in a subspecialty of ophthalmology.
-Administrative Experience:** Previous experience in a medical director or leadership role within a healthcare organization.
-Certifications:** Board certification in ophthalmology.
-Research and Education:** Experience in clinical research, teaching, and academic involvement.

 

Salary: $350,000-$450,000
