Job Summary

Position Title: Assistant Vice President of Operations/ Specialty

 

Job Summary: The Assistant Vice President of Operations will oversee multi-site operations, identify and implement best practice standards while working in partnership with physicians, management and staff to implement these standards in support of the achievement of Essen Health Care initiatives. The AVP of Operations in Specialty plays a crucial role in ensuring that specialized healthcare services are efficiently managed, financially sustainable, and of high quality, while also keeping the patient experience at the forefront of decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership:

    • Lead and manage daily operations for specialty healthcare services, ensuring that they are running efficiently and delivering high-quality patient care.
    • Optimize workflow processes, resource allocation, and staffing for specialty care units.
    • Ensure patient satisfaction and adherence to healthcare quality standards.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution:

    • Develop and implement long-term strategies to expand and improve the specialty healthcare services offered by the organization.
    • Collaborate with other departments to align operational strategies with organizational goals, including financial performance, patient care standards, and growth initiatives.
  • Financial Management:

    • Oversee budgets, financial performance, and resource management, ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising the quality of care.
    • Manage revenue cycle processes specific to specialty care, including billing, coding, and insurance reimbursements.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure that the operations comply with healthcare regulations, including local, state, and federal laws, such as HIPAA, Medicare, and other relevant standards.
    • Implement best practices for maintaining patient safety, confidentiality, and clinical excellence.
  • Team Management and Development:

    • Manage a team of healthcare managers, supervisors, and staff, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
    • Focus on recruitment, training, and development of staff, ensuring they are equipped with the skills necessary to provide specialized care.
  • Quality Improvement:

    • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes, patient safety, and overall healthcare delivery in specialty care settings.
    • Implement systems for monitoring and improving patient care, such as clinical audits, patient feedback, and performance assessments.
  • Technology Integration:

    • Oversee the integration and utilization of healthcare technologies that support specialty care operations, such as electronic health records (EHR), telemedicine, and advanced diagnostic tools.
    • Stay current on emerging healthcare technologies and innovations to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration with Physicians and Specialists:

    • Build strong relationships with specialist physicians, surgeons, and medical directors to ensure smooth coordination and delivery of care.
    • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between various healthcare professionals involved in specialty care.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is often required. A Master's degree (such as an MBA or MHA) is highly preferred 
  • Experience: 7-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, including several years in leadership roles within specialized areas of healthcare
  • Leadership: Strong leadership abilities to guide a multi-disciplinary team and foster a culture of excellence
  • Healthcare Expertise: A deep understanding of specialty care services, clinical operations, and patient care management.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and cost-control measures in a healthcare setting.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in specialty healthcare.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex operational issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with healthcare management software and technologies.
