Job Summary

Position Title: Respiratory Therapist for Pulmonology, Outpatient Care

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our Pulmonology outpatient care team. In this role, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients with pulmonary conditions, assisting with the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various respiratory diseases. You will work closely with pulmonologists, other healthcare professionals, and patients to develop personalized treatment plans that improve patients' respiratory health and overall quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments and gather health history to evaluate respiratory conditions.
  • Administer therapeutic treatments and interventions, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy, and ventilation support.
  • Perform pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and interpret results to support the diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Monitor and record patient progress, documenting all procedures and treatments in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Collaborate with the pulmonology team to adjust treatment plans as needed based on patient response and test results.
  • Assist in the management of chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD, asthma, and interstitial lung disease.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards while providing care.
  • Educate patients on proper use and maintenance of respiratory equipment, such as CPAP machines or inhalers.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide acute care when necessary, including the management of respiratory distress.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current Respiratory Therapist (RT) license and certification, as required by state regulations.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) may be preferred.
  • Previous experience in pulmonary or outpatient respiratory care is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
